Virginie Torrelli

Virginie Torelli is a girl from the islands! After fifteen years spent in Martinique, it was in Fort-de-France that she obtained her Fine Arts diploma, the young woman moved to Calvi in 2010. “This desire to live in Corsica is not new . I spent all my summers with my grandparents. We simply had to take the plunge! »

Once the stage was reached, she continued her glassmaking activity in Balagne. More precisely, “glazier melter by fusion”.

“The techniques are numerous and very targeted,” she explains, “such as fusing or even thermoforming. My initial training then allowed me to combine graphic design.”

Before specializing in glassmaking, Virginie chose another material and technique, pewter foundry, specializing in costume jewelry, but the latter seemed very ordinary to her compared to the nobility of glass, its colors, its light, its transparency.

His workshop has existed for 10 years in Calvi. His profession and his commitment to the Strada di l'Artigiani association will take him to the very heart of the village of Pigna in Balagne, remarkable for its artistic activities, both musical and artisanal. She moved there with her family and her petit four (the big four still remaining in Calvais).

Her deep convictions push her to join the Chamber of Trades to unite and promote crafts with a great team chaired by Jean-Charles Martinelli.

The designer draws her inspiration from her immediate environment; friends, craftsmen, nature, the elements. She experiments with larger formats such as paintings, mirrors and lamps, but above all the combination of metal as the skeleton of her new creations: her colorful muses or even her fish. Jewelry and tableware are still present and imbued with its natural world.
